Forest gardening is a permaculture method that aims to grow food and other useful plants by emulating natural woodland ecosystems.Forest gardens mostly consist of perennial plants that are mixed and assembled as they might be naturally in a woodland. Once a forest garden becomes established, it requires minimal labour to maintain whilst continuing to produce harvestable yields. They also provide habitat for biodiversity, because they produce continual food without a lot of disturbance, tilling, pesticides or fertilisers. Forest gardening can be done in established woodlands or in small gardens or allotments, so all are encouraged to join us at this workshop, whether you’re an experienced gardener or absolute beginner.Janice Gibson will deliver this interactive workshop over 3 hours. Janice is a keen gardener with an interest in permaculture, who has designed and implemented the forest garden at PLANT in Tayport. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided. If you book tickets but then can't attend, please let us know by cancelling your ticket on Eventbrite, or by emailing ask.us@fifecountryside.co.uk or phoning 01592 656080.
