Fabulous Figureheads Drop-in Tuesday 7th July 1:30pm - 3:30pm Who’s guarding your ship? Ships have long been guarded by the watchful eyes of carved figureheads. Now it’s your turn to make a miniature “guardian of the sea” with colourful clay. Drop in and get creative or just play with the clay. Catch the Wind: Kite-making Workshop Thursday 16th July 10:30am - 12:30pm Seize the power of the wind! Wind was important in powering sail boats like the Reaper. Join us and make your own kite to catch the wind. Then head to the beach to see how it will fly. Don’t have time to finish it? No problem you can take everything away to finish it at home. Knots and Twine Drop-inTuesday 21st July 1:30pm - 3:30pm Learn the ropes and get knotty! Bring a touch of the harbour home with you from this family-friendly drop-in. Come along and learn some basic knots. Just play around with different knots or make something to take home. Choose from a classic rope coaster or a sturdy monkey fist key ring. Rag Rug Flowers Workshop and Drop-in Thursday 30th July 10.30am - 12:30pm Sustainable, bright, and blooming! Join us for a sustainable craft session inspired by our temporary exhibition ‘Pins and Needles: Domestic Arts and Crafts’. Using recycled fabric scraps and traditional rag rug techniques, we’ll show you how to bloom a garden of colourful fabric flowers to brighten up your home. For wee ones, we’ll have ‘snip and stick’ versions that are perfect for practicing fine motor skills, ensuring even the smallest hands can ‘grow’ something beautiful. All materials provided. Lino Printing Workshop Tuesday 4th August 1:30pm - 3:30pm Join us for this arty workshop! Discover the world of relief printing at this workshop led by Emily our Learning Volunteer. Learn how to safely carve a design into lino and use colourful inks to produce your own prints to take home. The workshop is suitable for children over 7 years of age and they must be supervised by an adult as sharp tools will be used. All materials provided. Suitable for children over 7 years old. Colourful Cross Stitch Drop-in Thursday 13 August 10:30am - 12:30pm Slow down and get stitching! Get stitching at this relaxed morning session inspired by our temporary exhibition ‘Pins and Needles: Domestic Arts and Crafts’. We’ll provide the patterns and bright threads; you provide the creativity. Perfect for beginners. Younger ones can create their own stitch-like patterns using paper, pens and stamps.
